KDD 2018 Weekly Summary - July 22, 2018

KDD 2018 is less than a month away. As we get closer to the conference, we will provide a weekly recap of key announcements and program updates. Please take a look at the updates below and share them with your friends and colleagues. We’ll see you in London!

Registration

Nearly 2600 people have registered so far. Hurry up and register now!

Acceptance Rates

Accepted Papers: From 983 research track papers reviewed, 107 orals and 74 posters were accepted; From 497 applied data science track papers reviewed, 40 orals and 72 posters were accepted.

Workshops: 28 full-day and half-day workshops will be held in conjunction with KDD 2018, on 20 August 2018. The workshops will provide a great opportunity for participants from academia, industry, government and other related parties to present and discuss novel ideas on current and emerging topics relevant to knowledge discovery and data mining.

Tutorials: 29 fantastic line-up conventional tutorials and 5 hands-on tutorials will be held during the conference.

KDD Cup

Over 4,000 teams from 49 countries participated in this year’s competition, and made over 20,000 submissions.Congratulations to the winners of KDD Cup of Fresh Air! Please join us at #KDDCup Workshop during #KDD2018. Details can be found at http://www.kdd.org/kdd2018/kdd-cup.

Test of Time Award

The SIGKDD Test of Time Award recognizes outstanding papers from past KDD Conferences beyond the last decade that have had an important impact on the data mining research community. For 2018, the award has been given to Yehuda Koren from Google Israel for his paper, Factorization meets the neighborhood: a multifaceted collaborative filtering model. Deep Learning Day

For the first time at KDD, we are organizing a full Deep Learning Day as a key event, specifically dedicated to the field. The goal will be to provide a clear, wide overview of recent developments in deep learning, including emerging topics deserving of more attention, such as graph convolutional neural networks or computational optimal transport. 34 papers were accepted for presentations at an oral spotlight, and a poster session will be hosted along with the main KDD conference poster reception on 20 August. Project Showcase

Brand new for KDD 2018, the Project Showcase Track offers a full day program on August 22 focused exclusively on innovative KDD-relevant projects. Job Match

The KDD Job Match program provides an opportunity for KDD attendees to apply to data science jobs at our various sponsors. Attendees will register on the job match site, select the companies that interest them, and upload their CV or their LinkedIn profile.
