“The Future of Data Science and the Role of a Data Science Institute”
This year, for the first time in it’s history, KDD will host a round table of distinguished subject leaders on “the future of data science and the role of a data science institute”. This will be made possible through the collaboration and sponsorship of the Alan Turing Institute and The Data Science Institute, Imperial College London. It will be held during the day on the 20th of August 2018.
The format of the meeting will revolve around several key themes, each conducted as a separate round-table within the main day. Meetings will be facilitated by a professional and will be conducted against a comprehensive agenda: conceived by a steering committee and designed to encourage discussion and stimulate debate. Output will be captured and made available to all attendees.
The purpose of the event is to share and discuss relevant, timely issues pertaining to the increased availability of data, data processing techniques and AI – and to discuss the role of a data science institute within the context of a university, its country and the global stage.
Transport will be provided from the event to the opening ceremony at KDD, and then onwards to an evening reception, to be held nearby.
This event is by application only. We welcome enquiries for interested parties and request that you forward a copy of your CV to Dr Douglas McIlwraith at the DSI (douglas.mcilwraith@imperial.ac.uk) for consideration.
