London, UK, 3-5 July 2017
Aim and Scope
Data science is an emerging discipline, fueled by continuing advances in technology for data acquisition, storage and curation. Data Science is fundamentally inter-disciplinary, covering computer science and machine learning, mathematics and statistics, and domain knowledge from application areas. The role of statistics in this emerging discipline is unclear. The Statistical Data Science Conference invites contributed papers exploring the nature of the relationship between statistics and data science, suggesting state-of-the-art reasoning from both areas, and developing a synergistic path forward.
Accepted papers will be invited to be presented at the conference and will be published in an edited volume that will accompany the conference, to be published by World Scientific.
Invited speakers and contributors to the book include:
- Prof Michael Jordan (University of California, Berkeley)
- Prof David Hand (Winton)
- Prof David Leslie (Lancaster University)
- Prof Alastair Young (Imperial College London)
- Dr Mark Briers (Roke)
- Prof Mark Girolami (Imperial College London)
